KSRTC UPI Payment Launced: Pay With Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe or Debit Card
With the launch of the KSRTC UPI payment system, passengers can now make seamless payments using UPI-based apps like Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, or even a debit card.
In a bid to improve passenger convenience and promote cashless transactions, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has rolled out a new UPI payment system across its bus services.
The KSRTC UPI payment initiative, which responds to long-standing commuter demands, enables passengers to pay for their bus rides using Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, or a debit card, making it easier to travel without the hassle of cash.

Seamless and Cashless Travel with KSRTC UPI Payment
Passengers using KSRTC buses can now make payments through KSRTC bus UPI payment systems, which are equipped with advanced Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs).
These ETMs allow for a variety of payment methods, including popular UPI apps and debit card transactions.
The move is aimed at addressing issues faced by passengers, such as carrying cash and the common problem of not having the exact change, which often leads to delays and disputes with conductors.
As of now, over 10,000 smart ETMs have been deployed across KSRTC’s fleet of 8,800 buses. The system will continue to expand, with conductor training underway to ensure a smooth transition to the new payment system.

Transport Minister Highlights Benefits of UPI Payment System
Karnataka’s Transport Minister, Ramalinga Reddy, emphasized the new system’s advantages.
“The KSRTC UPI payment system addresses the long-standing issue of passengers not having exact change, improving the overall travel experience. With Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, and debit card options, passengers can now pay quickly and efficiently, making their journey much more convenient,” said Reddy.
In addition to supporting UPI and debit card payments, the new ETMs will also be able to validate National Common Mobility Cards and all KSRTC-issued bus passes. This feature is expected to roll out within the next month, further enhancing the convenience for regular and occasional commuters alike.
Phased Rollout and Future Expansion
The KSRTC UPI payment system is being rolled out in phases. Currently, more than 10,000 Android-based smart ETMs have been installed across the state.
These devices feature touchscreens, faster processing speeds, and wireless connectivity. The new systems replace older ETMs that have been in use for the past 20 years.
KSRTC is also testing a dynamic QR code payment system, which will allow passengers to scan a QR code with their smartphones to complete payments.
This feature is expected to be fully implemented across all buses by the end of the month, making KSRTC one of the first transport corporations in India to embrace digital payment solutions fully.
