OSRTC Shree Jagannath Express bus Route, Timetable, Ticket Price & Online Booking

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Shree Jagannath Express bus service on January 18, a day after unveiling the Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa or the Temple Heritage Corridor in Puri.

The super luxury Volvo bus service aims to ease transportation for people from various districts of Odisha to the sacred town of Puri.

While 15 buses connecting 12 districts were launched in the first phase, CM Patnaik has revealed that a total of 80 super deluxe Volvo buses will be added to the Shree Jagannath Express bus fleet.

These buses will be deployed across all 30 districts to transport people to Puri through Bhubaneswar. CM Patnaik has announced a 50% ticket discount for women using the Jagannath Express buses.

As of now, these buses connect 12 district headquarters to Puri – Balangir, Bargarh, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Kalahandi, Malkangir, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh during the first phase.

The buses will operate under Odisha‘s flagship Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI).

Why were the Jagannath Express Volvo Buses Launched?

The Odisha state government has initiated the Shree Jagannath Express bus service operating under the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) mainly to ensure convenient transportation for individuals across Odisha to the sacred town of Puri.

The primary goal is to facilitate uninterrupted ‘Darshan’ of the sibling deities—Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath—in the 12th-century shrine located in Puri.

The buses will initially operate from 12 district headquarters, and will be extended to 15 districts.

Chief Minister Patnaik highlighted the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Jagannath culture in villages through various measures, including the Shree Jagannath Express bus service.

This initiative is a crucial component of the state government’s strategy to facilitate the daily movement of approximately 10,000 individuals for a month, allowing them to visit the Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa—a Rs 800-crore heritage corridor encircling Jagannath Temple in Puri.

In line with OSRTC‘s commitment to quality and comfortable services, the entire Jagannath Express bus fleet consists of Volvo 9600 multi-axle buses known for their plush ride.

These Volvo multi-axle buses feature semi-sleeper seats with a capacity of 51 passengers in 2+2 layout.

To ensure that passengers get a comfortable ride, these buses feature a slew of amenities including the following:

• Reading light
• CCTV
• Emergency contact number
• Live bus tracking

• Seat belts for all passengers

Shree Jagannath Express Bus Routes

Shree Jagannath Express Volvo buses are currently operational from 12 district headquarters on 15 routes, including Malkangiri – Puri, Keonjhar – Puri, and Jeypore – Puri.

According to OSRTC, the Shree Jagannath Express bus routes will be operational from 15 district headquarters and include 30 routes.

Shree Jagannath Express Bus Ticket Price

Shree Jagannath Express bus ticket price from Bhanjanagar to Puri is set at Rs 986. Additionally, the Jharsuguda to Puri bus, departing from Jharsuguda at 8:30 PM, is available at a rate of Rs 1066.

CM Patnaik has announced a 50% ticket discount for women using the Jagannath Express buses.
