SWITCH Mobility Strengthens Delhi E-Bus Presence With 840-Bus Order From Antony Road Transport Solutions

SWITCH Mobility has secured an order for 840 electric buses from Antony Road Transport Solutions under Phase I of the Government of India’s PM E-Drive scheme, adding another large-scale electric bus deployment to Delhi’s public transport network.

The order comprises 420 9-metre and 420 12-metre AC electric buses. The buses will be deployed with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Department, Delhi, for passenger transportation across the national capital.

SWITCH Mobility and Antony Road Transport Solutions signed the agreement, with Antony Road Transport Solutions selected as the operator for Delhi under the CESL PM E-Drive Phase I tender.

840 Electric Buses Across Two Vehicle Sizes

The mix of 9-metre and 12-metre electric buses provides deployment flexibility across different urban passenger transport needs.

The buses are based on SWITCH Mobility’s EiV platform and are designed around operational efficiency, passenger comfort, safety and connected fleet management.

The electric buses feature modular battery configurations, advanced electric powertrains and regenerative braking. Dual-gun fast charging is intended to support quicker charging turnaround and better fleet utilisation.

For passengers, the buses feature spacious interiors, comfortable seating, USB charging and low-floor access. Safety systems include Fire Detection and Suppression Systems and multi-level battery protection.

The deployment also brings connected technology into the operation of the electric bus fleet.

SWITCH Mobility’s SWITCH iON platform provides real-time vehicle monitoring, diagnostics and fleet management capabilities. For operators, connected data can help monitor vehicle performance and identify operational issues, supporting fleet reliability and day-to-day efficiency.

The combination of electric powertrains and connected fleet technology is becoming increasingly important as cities deploy larger electric bus fleets. With hundreds of vehicles operating across a common network, visibility into vehicle health, charging and operations becomes a critical part of fleet management.

Antony Road Transport Solutions Expands Electric Bus Operations

For Antony Road Transport Solutions, the order marks a significant expansion of its role in Delhi’s public transport electrification programme.
