KSRTC To Launch Ashwamedha AC buses On These Routes
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to introduce a new fleet of Ashwamedha AC buses to provide a premium travel experience for daily commuters within a 100-kilometer radius of Bengaluru.
These new buses will offer a more comfortable, reliable, and efficient travel alternative for daily passengers heading to nearby towns.
On February 5, 2024, the KSRTC introduced the non-AC Ashwamedha Classic bus series, expanding its fleet by 750 buses. These vehicles serve as a crucial link between Bengaluru and nearby districts, towns, and cities.
While the buses have been an important addition to the transport network, passengers often find the ride uncomfortable, especially during the hot summer months. Overcrowding has become a major issue, with commuters enduring a challenging daily journey.
To address the issue, the KSRTC is planning to introduce premium Ashwamedha AC buses for a more comfortable and efficient commute to and from Bengaluru’s surrounding areas.

Ashwamedha AC Bus Routes
The new Ashwamedha AC buses will operate on several key routes, offering direct connectivity between the city and smaller towns that previously faced overcrowded and uncomfortable travel conditions.
As per KSRTC, these buses will serve the following areas:
- Channapatna
- Ramanagara
- Kolar
- Tumakuru
- Mandya
- Chikkaballapur
- Hosur
KSRTC Managing Director V. Anbu Kumar was also quoted as saying by The Hindu that the corporation will conduct a feasibility study to assess passenger demand, identify peak travel hours, and establish an efficient service frequency for the Ashwamedha AC buses.
This study will help ensure that the buses are available when commuters need them the most, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience.

Ticket Prices Will Be Slightly Higher
Though the ticket fares for the Ashwamedha AC buses will be slightly higher compared to regular non-AC buses, KSRTC assures commuters that the added comfort and convenience will make the price worthwhile.
“Given the positive response to the initial Ashwamedha buses, we’re confident these premium AC buses will offer an even better commuting experience,” said Kumar.

How Are the Ashwamedha AC Buses Different from Non-AC Buses?
Unlike the earlier non-AC Ashwamedha Classic buses launched by KSRTC in February 2024, the new fleet of Ashwamedha AC buses promises an entirely upgraded commuting experience.
Designed to address the discomfort faced by passengers during the hot summer months, these new buses will be fully air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities.
Some key features of the Ashwamedha AC buses include:
- Smaller, more spacious seating arrangements to ensure comfort during long journeys.
- Fully air-conditioned interiors, providing relief from Bengaluru’s heat.
- Charging ports available at each seat, ensuring passengers can stay connected throughout their travel.
The Ashwamedha AC buses are designed to cater specifically to the needs of regular, point-to-point commuters traveling to and from Bengaluru’s neighboring towns. With tailored seating and a focus on passenger comfort, these buses are expected to make long-distance travel less stressful and more enjoyable.
