Ride-hailing platform Uber has launched Intercity Bus ticket booking on its app in India through a partnership with AbhiBus, the bus-ticketing platform owned by ixigo.

The feature allows users to discover, plan, and book long-distance bus journeys directly within the Uber application, making India the first market globally to roll out the product.

As part of the launch offer, users can receive 25% discount (up to ₹200) on their first Intercity Bus booking and 10% discount (up to ₹100) on the next three rides.

Intercity Bus Booking Available Inside the Uber App

With the new feature, Uber users can search for long-distance bus routes, compare available operators, and reserve seats without leaving the app.

The service integrates AbhiBus’s bus inventory with Uber’s mobility platform to provide access to intercity bus travel across the country.

According to Uber, the product includes platform-level safety features such as real-time location sharing, a 24×7 safety helpline, and dedicated trip support during the journey.

How to Book Uber Intercity Bus Tickets

Users can book bus tickets directly through the Uber app by selecting the Intercity Buses option and entering travel details.

After choosing the preferred operator and seat, riders can complete the booking using UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Ticket confirmation is displayed in the app and sent via email and WhatsApp, and bookings can be accessed through the Uber activity hub.

Expansion of Uber’s Intercity Travel Services

The launch expands Uber’s intercity travel portfolio in India. The company’s Intercity car service currently connects more than 3,000 city-to-city routes across the country.

Uber also introduced Intercity Motorhomes last year as a limited-period premium travel offering.

Praveen Neppalli Naga said India is one of Uber’s key innovation hubs globally and that technologies developed in the country help shape the company’s global product roadmap.

Prabhjeet Singh noted that improved highway connectivity and growing road travel demand are creating new opportunities for digital platforms to support long-distance mobility.

Rohit Sharma said the partnership combines AbhiBus’s bus supply network with Uber’s platform scale to make intercity bus travel more accessible for riders across India.
