What was supposed to be a smooth overnight journey for one passenger turned into a nightmare on wheels when an NWKRTC AC sleeper bus turned out to be anything but luxurious.

In a now-viral tweet, the user didn’t hold back on the harrowing experience he had on his journey.

The man, presumably an NRI visiting India, had booked an NWKRTC AC sleeper bus expecting a modern, comfortable journey. But what greeted him at the bus station was an old, dilapidated vehicle bus that looked like it had seen better days—a decade ago.

While not too impressed by the bus, he went aboard, braving all odds, unaware that things were about to go from bad to bullock cart.

  • The suspension was “worse than a bullock” cart, making for a bone-rattling journey
  • The air conditioning broke down, eliminating the only expected comfort in a premium service.
  • A gap in the fire exit door next to the seat allowed rain and wind to enter the cabin, raising serious safety and comfort concerns

At a premium fare of over ₹1,300, the post highlighted the stark disparity between cost and comfort.

Internet Reacts: “Avoid Corona Buses!

The tweet quickly picked up steam, with dozens echoing similar horror stories. The photos shared by the passenger highlighted the shocking condition of the premium sleeper bus.

Many claimed the bus in question was one of NWKRTC’s old Corona sleeper coaches, notorious for their condition.

“Always book a Volvo multi-axle if you want even basic comfort,” warned one user.

Some also demanded stricter oversight of state-run transport services and accused NWKRTC of misleading passengers with outdated listings.

Bigger Problem? Poor Maintenance, No Accountability

This incident has sparked yet another debate about the sorry state of State Transport Corporations in parts of India.

Despite advertising luxury and safety, operators often roll out aging, neglected buses, a recipe for discomfort and disaster.

Although the tweet was posted on August 28, the passenger has yet to receive a response from NWKRTC, raising concerns about the corporation’s responsiveness to customer grievances.
