Tata Begins Delivery of 148 Electric Buses to BMTC

Tata Motors has begun deliveries of 148 new Tata Starbus electric buses to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This addition brings the total Tata electric fleet in Bengaluru to over 1,000 buses, making it one of India’s leading electric bus networks.
The new BMTC Tata electric buses were flagged off by Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka, alongside Shri Ramachandran R., IAS, Managing Director, BMTC, and other senior officials.
Manufactured by Tata Motors and operated under a 12-year contract by TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., these Tata Starbus electric buses are purpose-built for intra-city use. Designed with urban comfort in mind, each bus features:
- 35 ergonomic seats with low-floor access
- Zero tailpipe emissions
- Electronic Stability Control & Brake Distribution
- Integrated Transport Management System
- High uptime and smooth ride experience
These buses have already proven their capability, clocking over 6 crore cumulative kilometers in Bengaluru’s daily operations.
