Tata Motors Delivers Tata Ultra EV Electric Buses in Jammu Smart City
Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, proudly announced the delivery of state-of-the-art Tata Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Jammu Smart City Limited.
The delivery of the electric buses is part of its larger order to supply, maintain, and operate 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 electric buses in Jammu, for 12 years for the Jammu and Srinagar Smart City projects.
This significant initiative, steered by the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, marks a crucial step towards establishing an environmentally sustainable public transportation system in Jammu.
These emission-free electric buses, a testament to Tata Motors’ commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability, are set to redefine intra-city commuting in Jammu.
The Tata Ultra EV fleet, inaugurated by esteemed dignitaries, including Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, aligns seamlessly with Jammu Smart City’s vision for a greener and more efficient urban transport network.
As part of a comprehensive 12-year plan, Tata Motors will not only supply but also maintain and operate 100 Tata Ultra EV electric buses in both Srinagar and Jammu, contributing significantly to the Smart City projects.
Shri Rahul Yadav (IAS), CEO of Jammu Smart City Ltd, highlighted the initiative’s multifaceted impact, aiming to enhance mass mobility while prioritizing safety and sustainability. “The introduction of the Tata Ultra EV electric buses is a game-changer,” he said, “contributing not only to improved transportation but also to a considerable reduction in the city’s carbon footprint.”
Mr. Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Chairman of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, expressed his delight at the pivotal role played by Tata Ultra EV in advancing sustainable mobility. “We are witnessing a transformative moment in Jammu’s transportation landscape,” he remarked, “and the Tata Ultra EV is at the forefront of this positive change.”
Tata Motors’ unparalleled expertise in the electric bus market is evident through the success of the Tata Ultra EV, which has already clocked over 10 crore kilometers across various cities in India.
The bus’s fully electric powertrain ensures optimal energy consumption, leading to substantial savings in fuel costs and reduced environmental impact.
The safety features, including electronic stability control, air suspension, and an Intelligent Transport System (ITS), make the Tata Ultra EV an ideal solution for urban passenger needs.
