On October 7, 2023, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakmuar, and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated a fleet of 40 KSRTC Pallakki sleeper buses, along with 100 Karnataka Sarige buses and upgraded point-to-point buses.
Out of the 40 newly acquired buses by the Karnataka government, 30 will be deployed for intra-state travel, while the remaining 10 will facilitate interstate journeys from Bengaluru and other regions.
This initiative is part of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation’s ambitious plan to integrate 798 new buses into its fleet this year.
The Pallakki buses are made on the iconic Ashok Leyland 222” WB Viking chassis with a length of 11.3 m, and are non-air-conditioned buses featuring 30 sleeper berths.
Pallakki sleeper buses are currently operational on 12 significant routes, including the Bengaluru-Belagavi-Bengaluru route.
