Electric Double-Decker Bus in Indore to Start Service Soon
Indore is set to become the first tier-2 city in India to introduce a double-decker bus service. The double-decker bus in Indore will be managed by the Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited (AICTSL) and will start operations after trial runs and route finalization.
An electric double-decker bus will soon grace the streets of Indore, making it India’s first tier-2 city to run such a service.
The bus, delivered by Ashok Leyland’s electric vehicle arm Switch-Mobility, has already arrived in Indore and will start operations after trial runs and route finalization.
The 9-meter bus can accommodate 60 passengers and is expected to ease traffic congestion as well as enhance the travel experience of the residents.

Double-Decker Bus in Indore Spearheaded by Pushyamitra Bhargava
The first double-decker Bus in Indore is the result of the relentless efforts of Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava.
During the inauguration of the trial run of the bus, on October 20, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his enthusiasm.
“This marks a historic milestone in the city’s development as we welcome the first-ever double-decker bus in Indore. On behalf of all the residents of Indore, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for this wonderful initiative,” he stated.

Switch EiV 22 Double Decker Electric Bus
The electric double-decker bus in Indore is being provided by Switch Mobility, the electric commercial vehicle arm of Ashok Leyland.
Measuring 9 meters in length and 15 meters in height, the bus is powered by a 231-kWh capacity, 2-string, liquid-cooled, higher-density NMC chemistry battery pack with a dual gun charging system.
This advanced technology provides the electric double-decker with a range of up to 250 kilometers, making it ideal for intra-city applications.
