zingbus has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 50 bus operators to facilitate the deployment of more than 200 zingbus Maxx and electric buses over the next 12 months.

The announcement was made at Prawaas 5.0, India’s largest passenger transport industry event, where the company was also honoured with the Bharat Prawaas People’s Choice Award 2026 for Favourite Pan-India Bus Operator.

The partnerships are expected to strengthen zingbus’ presence across South and West India by combining its technology platform, digital distribution network, and service standards with the operational expertise of regional bus operators.

The first phase of deployment will focus on high-demand corridors connecting Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Goa.

“Travellers today expect better comfort, reliability and transparency. Our partnerships will help scale premium and electric mobility while empowering regional operators with technology and wider market access.”

Expansion to Focus on Premium and Electric Mobility

A significant portion of the planned deployment will operate under zingbus Maxx, the company’s premium intercity travel service. Electric buses will also form a key part of the expansion as zingbus accelerates its clean mobility roadmap.

According to the company, the partnership model is designed to help regional operators improve fleet utilisation, access a wider customer base, and deliver a more consistent passenger experience through technology-enabled operations.

The announcement comes as India’s intercity bus industry places increasing emphasis on premium services, digitalisation, passenger safety, and electric mobility.

zingbus Targets 1,000 Electric Buses by 2030

Speaking at Prawaas 5.0, Mratunjay Beniwal, Co-founder and COO of zingbus, said passenger expectations are evolving rapidly, with travellers seeking greater comfort, reliability, safety, and transparency from intercity bus services.

“These partnerships will help us scale premium and electric mobility while enabling regional operators to benefit from technology, stronger distribution, and standardised service delivery,” he said.

The company plans to induct more than 50 electric buses during 2026 and scale its electric fleet to 1,000 buses by 2030.

Features such as live journey tracking, fleet monitoring, trained onboard staff, and enhanced safety protocols will remain central to its expansion strategy.

Bharat Prawaas Award Recognises Passenger Trust

Alongside the partnership announcements, zingbus received the Bharat Prawaas People’s Choice Award 2026 at Prawaas 5.0.

According to the company, the award recognises its contribution towards technology-driven intercity mobility and efforts to improve the passenger travel experience across India.

Commenting on the recognition, Beniwal said the award reflects the trust that passengers have placed in zingbus and reinforces the company’s commitment to raising the standards of intercity bus travel while working closely with regional operators.

“This recognition reflects the trust travellers place in zingbus and motivates us to keep improving intercity bus travel in India.”

Why This Matters

The announcement reflects a broader shift taking place in India’s private bus industry, where technology-driven aggregator platforms are increasingly partnering with regional operators instead of relying solely on asset ownership.

As operators focus on premium services and electric mobility, collaborative models such as these could accelerate fleet modernisation while expanding access to technology-led passenger services across the country.
