Blackbuck EV Launches VIRO 2X Electric Bus for Urban and Corporate Mobility

Blackbuck Electric Vehicles has unveiled the VIRO 2X, a 9-metre battery-electric bus designed for urban transport, corporate mobility, and premium shuttle services. The launch marks the company’s entry into the urban electric bus segment, expanding beyond its long-distance, multi-axle electric bus ELON 3X.
The new electric bus has been developed in-house and will be deployed initially through pilot operations starting Q4 2026.
Blackbuck EV said the VIRO 2X has been engineered to improve fleet efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance passenger comfort, targeting high-utilisation urban routes and corporate transport networks.
The Blackbuck VIRO 2X is built on a proprietary EV-native platform that combines an aluminium-composite spaceframe with a stainless steel skateboard architecture, similar to the architecture used in Blackbuck’s ELON 3X electric coach.
This design reduces vehicle weight while maintaining durability, directly impacting energy efficiency and range.

Blackbuck VIRO 2X Designed for Efficiency & Range
From a performance standpoint, Blackbuck EV claims an energy consumption of up to 0.6 kWh per km, with a range of up to 260 km at 80% state of charge.
The company attributes this efficiency to its lightweight structure and integrated system design, where vehicle architecture, electrical systems, and software have been developed as a unified platform.
This approach is aimed at lowering cost per kilometre and improving uptime – two critical metrics for fleet operators.
Multiple Configurations for Diverse Use Cases
The VIRO 2X supports multiple seating layouts, including:
- 34-seat standard configuration
- 30-seat fully reclining premium variant
These configurations allow deployment across corporate employee transport, app-based shuttle services, and private charter operations.
The electric bus also features a low-noise cabin, improved suspension, and enhanced ride stability, targeting a more refined passenger experience in urban mobility.

Blackbuck EV is positioning the VIRO 2X around lifecycle efficiency rather than just upfront specifications.
The platform has been designed to reduce maintenance requirements while improving reliability, enabling operators to maximise utilisation across daily operations.
“With VIRO 2X, we are focused on how efficiently mobility can operate in real-world conditions,” said R. K. Raju, Founder and CEO of Blackbuck EV.

Built in India with Global Technology Standards
The VIRO 2X has been engineered and manufactured in India, with a strong localisation focus supported by global suppliers.
The company positions the product as “Engineered in India, with global technology standards,” reflecting its strategy to build domestically while maintaining international benchmarks.
Pilot Rollout Planned from Q4 2026
Blackbuck EV plans to begin pilot deployments of the VIRO 2X from the fourth quarter of 2026.
Initial units will be rolled out across select urban markets for validation and live demonstration, ahead of broader commercial deployment.
