Hyderabad is stepping up its green mobility efforts as the TGSRTC announced plans to add 235 new electric buses by the end of 2025. With this expansion, the city’s e-bus fleet will reach 500 units, significantly reducing both fuel costs and emissions.

Currently, 265 electric buses are operating in Hyderabad, attracting strong passenger demand.

Why More Electric Buses in Hyderabad?

TGSRTC’s decision is driven by:

• Environmental Benefits: E-buses produce zero tailpipe emissions, helping to cut urban air pollution.
• Economic Savings: Running costs are ₹8 per km, far cheaper than the ₹20 per km cost of diesel buses.
• Passenger Demand: The existing fleet has shown consistent ridership, proving public acceptance of e-buses.

Where Are the Charging Stations Located?

To support the growing fleet, TGSRTC has already established and is expanding charging infrastructure across Hyderabad:

• Operational: Cantonment, HCU, and Miyapur depots.
• Upcoming: Raniganj (to host 100 buses) and Hayatnagar (55 buses running, 55 more to be added).
• Planned: Kukatpally depot for future fleet expansion.
