Tata Rolls Out Hydrogen Trucks in India: Range Upto 500 Km

Tata Rolls Out Hydrogen Trucks in India

In a major move towards India’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, Tata Motors has successfully launched the first-ever trials for hydrogen trucks in India.

Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated this historic trial with Shri Pralhad Joshi, the Hon’ble Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, with participation from Tata Motors’ Executive Director, Mr. Girish Wagh, and other distinguished delegates from the Government of India.

The trial is part of India’s broader green energy ambitions, notably under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to reduce carbon emissions and boost energy self-reliance.

Tata Motors is deploying 16 hydrogen-powered trucks as part of a two-year trial to evaluate their commercial viability for long-distance freight transportation.

The Tata hydrogen trucks feature cutting-edge Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2-ICE) and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (H2-FCEV) technologies, marking a significant advancement in alternative fuel options for the heavy-duty transportation sector.
