2024 | Which is The Fastest-Charging Electric Bus in the World?
As of 2024, the Veera Mahasamrat EV 13.5M is the fastest-charging electric bus in the world. Armed with Exponent Energy’s advanced charging solutions, the bus can reach full charge in just 15 minutes.
At Prawaas 4.0, India’s premier multimodal transport exhibition, India’s leading bus body builder Veera Vahana Udyog launched the Veera Mahasamrat electric bus in collaboration with Exponent Energy.
Powered by a 320 kWh LFP battery pack that operates at 650 volts, the Veera Mahasamrat electric bus is the fastest-charging electric bus in the world and can attain full charge in just 15 minutes with Exponent Energy’s 1 MW fast charger.
This innovation tackles one of the major challenges in embracing electric buses—range anxiety—by enhancing the feasibility and efficiency of long-distance intercity routes.
The Veera Mahasamrat EV is also the first 13.5-meter electric bus in the world. It measures 2.6 meters in width, 4 meters in height, and a wheelbase of 6.85 meters. It weighs a total of 19.5 tonnes and can accommodate up to 36 passengers.
The Veera Mahasamrat is powered by a 190 kW PMSM motor that produces a peak power of 300 kW and a peak torque of 3100 Nm. It has a top speed of 98 km/h and can reach 0-30km/h in 10 seconds or less.
The Veera Mahasamrat electric bus is already undergoing road test on one of India’s busiest routes – the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route.
Exponent Energy will establish four 1 MW charging stations along this corridor—two at each end of the route and two along the way.
