New Delhi, November 3: The Delhi Transport Department has launched a new electric shuttle bus service for central and government employees today.

This decision follows the implementation of Stage 2 of the Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP) in the National Capital Region, in response to pollution concerns.

Stage 2 puts restrictions on all BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles to ply on roads. There’s a fine of ₹20,000 for any violation of this rule.

The introduction of the electric shuttle bus service in Delhi is part of an effort to promote eco-friendly transportation among government employees. This move encourages them to embrace greener modes of travel.

“A dedicated shuttle service employing electric buses has been launched to advocate for public transportation and dissuade government employees from using private vehicles, all in a bid to combat pollution,” said Ashish Kundra, Principal Secretary Transport, Government of Delhi.

The electric buses will be equipped with GPS tracking and CCTV cameras. They will also have comfortable seating and air conditioning.
