The inspection initiative was launched following specific instructions from the State Transport Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar. During a teleconference on Tuesday, June 11, Minister Prabhakar underscored the significance of ensuring that every school bus operates only with a valid fitness certificate.

He also urged Transport officials to conduct strict inspections as well as awareness programs to educate drivers and the public.

“We make it clear every year that we will not allow school buses to operate without necessary documents like fitness certificate and permits. This commitment is integral to our ongoing safety initiative, which we communicated well in advance to all educational institutions,” senior RTA officials said.
