November 6, 2023: Chennai-based Ashok Leyland, a prominent player in India’s commercial vehicle manufacturing sector and a flagship Company of the Hinduja Group, marked a significant milestone today.

The company has commenced the delivery of India’s first Liquified Natural Gas, LNG powered long haulage truck, the Ashok Leyland AVTR 1922 truck, to Mahanagar Gas Limited in Hosur.

This move underscores Ashok Leyland’s commitment to a greener future for the Indian transportation industry.

The AVTR 1922 truck, equipped with an in-house LNG engine compliant with BSVI Stage II emission standards, establishes Ashok Leyland as the first Indian Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to achieve this feat.

In a statement, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, President- MHCV, Ashok Leyland, expressed his delight at the delivery of the first batch of AVTR 1922 LNG-powered haulage trucks. He emphasized the company’s unwavering dedication to meeting the evolving needs of customers in the realm of sustainable transportation.
