Cause of the Karol Bagh Bus Accident: Sleeper Bus Overturns in Delhi, Two Dead Several Injured

Two people died, and 23 were left injured when a private sleeper bus overturned in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area in the early hours of March 25.
Authorities revealed the bus had 25 passengers on board and was traveling from Jaipur to Delhi when it lost control.
The Karol Bagh bus accident took place near the Jhandewalan Temple, a busy area that witnesses heavy traffic and pedestrian movement.
Police teams, Delhi Fire Services personnel, and nearby residents quickly began rescue operations to save the passengers who were trapped.
According to an eyewitness, Raghu, passengers were briefly trapped inside the bus, and a JCB machine had to be brought in to assist in lifting the bus and freeing those stuck inside.
“Almost all the passengers inside the bus were injured because of the impact. The police had to bring in a JCB to lift the bus and free the passengers,” he added.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus driver may have lost control of the vehicle before it overturned.
Officials believe the vehicle was traveling at a high speed when the incident occurred, though the exact cause of the Karol Bagh bus accident is still under investigation.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the particular stretch of the road was quite dark which might have impacted the driver’s vision.
Police officials said that about 10 passengers with critical injuries were taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, while 12 others were shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and one injured person was admitted to Lady Hardinge Medical College.
Two passengers, both men, succumbed to injuries at RML Hospital, the officer said.
The bus driver, Pankaj Kumar (26), who hails from Alwar in Rajasthan, has been taken into custody and is currently receiving medical treatment at Lady Hardinge Medical College.
