Medaram Jatara TGSRTC Special Buses 2026: Here’s Complete Route, Fare and Booking Details

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced the operation of 4,000 special buses from 25 January to 1 February to facilitate pilgrim travel for the biennial Medaram Jatara. These services will originate from 51 traffic-generating points across the state, including Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, and Khammam, to accommodate an estimated 20 lakh passengers.
To manage the heavy influx, a temporary 50-acre bus station featuring 50 queue lines has been established at Medaram, supported by over 10,400 personnel and a 24/7 command and control centre. Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, women can avail of free travel on all ordinary and express special services heading to the festival.
The Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, often called the “Kumbh Mela of the South,” is India’s largest tribal festival. Held biennially in the dense forests of Mulugu district, Telangana, the 2026 edition is scheduled from January 28 to January 31.
The main reason is that Medaram is a remote forest hamlet with limited permanent infrastructure. TGSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) buses serve as the primary lifeline for the millions of devotees travelling from across South and Central India.
For most, the bus is not just a choice but a necessity to navigate the heavy traffic and forest terrain where private vehicle access is often restricted to prevent massive gridlocks.
