Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently unveiled 100 new BMTC buses at a Vidhana Soudha event, with plans to roll out an additional 840 buses in phases to improve public transportation for the city’s working-class.
On September 12, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated 100 new buses for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), boosting the city’s public transit system. These buses will serve multiple routes across Bengaluru.
BMTC is set to modernize its entire fleet with 840 new buses by March 2025, backed by a ₹336 crore investment from the Karnataka government.
While the corporation has recently focused on expanding its electric bus fleet, the new BMTC buses are diesel-powered BS-6 models. These new buses, however, are much cleaner than the older BS-4 ones, cutting nitrogen oxide emissions by 90%, hydrocarbons by 70%, and particulate matter by 50%.
