REFIRE Partners with European OEM to Supply Advanced PRISMA Fuel Cell Systems for Long-Distance Coaches

REFIRE has signed an MoU with a leading European OEM to provide 180-220kW PRISMA fuel cell systems for integration into long-distance coaches, with testing set to start this quarter and the 220kW variant being readied for European certification.

REFIRE has signed an MoU with a leading European OEM

REFIRE has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with a prominent European Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to provide an initial supply of 180-220kW PRISMA fuel cell systems.

These systems will be integrated into long-distance coaches, with testing set to commence this quarter. The 220kW variant is currently being prepared for European certification.

Designed for Long Haul and Heavy Duty

REFIRE’s PRISMA fuel cell system is specifically engineered to meet the demands of long-distance travel, delivering exceptional fuel efficiency.

The 180kW system recently demonstrated its capabilities by powering two 49-ton trucks over a 1500km journey with minimal refueling stops, achieving an average hydrogen consumption of only 7.4kg per 100km.

These high-power systems are poised to benefit coaches by enhancing cabin comfort and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, which can consume up to 50% of a battery’s power, thus impacting range.

Hydrogen’s high energy density effectively addresses these power needs, and REFIRE’s systems are engineered to perform reliably in extreme temperatures (-30°C to 50°C) and at high altitudes (up to 2,500 meters).

Instant Availability and Easy Upgrades

The REFIRE 180kW PRISMA system is immediately available, allowing OEMs to expedite their development processes by integrating a tested solution.

Upgrading to the 220kW version can be done seamlessly. The PRISMA system’s design allows it to be easily installed in the space of traditional diesel powertrains.

Meeting Emission Standards Ahead of Schedule

Upcoming EU regulations mandate a 90% reduction in emissions from heavy-duty vehicles by 2040, with interim targets of 43% by 2030 and 64% by 2035.

REFIRE’s hydrogen-electric technology assists OEMs in meeting these stringent targets ahead of deadlines, helping them avoid diesel bans and associated penalties.
