KSRTC’s Kozhikode open-top electric double-decker bus offers a panoramic city tour experience for tourists and residents alike.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a new open-top electric double-decker bus service for city tours in Kozhikode.
The service was inaugurated by P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister for Public Works and Tourism in Kerala, and is designed to offer visitors a unique way to explore the “City of Literature.”
The bus is manufactured by Switch Mobility and has a total seating capacity of 64 passengers — 36 seats on the open upper deck and 28 on the lower deck.

Booking is simple and can be done online, by phone, or via app.
Online Booking Steps:
- Visit the KSRTC online booking portal.
- Search for the Kozhikode city sightseeing service.
- Select your preferred travel date.
- Choose from the available trips and click ‘Select Seats.’
- Enter passenger details and proceed to payment.
Phone Booking:
Call the KSRTC Kozhikode terminal directly to reserve your seats over the phone.
App Booking:
Use the EnteKSRTC Neo-OPRS mobile application to book your seats digitally.

The route begins from the KSRTC Mavoor Road Terminal and covers approximately 16 kilometres. Here are the major spots covered during the tour:
- Mananchira Square – Historic centrepiece of the city with a pond and gardens.
- Kozhikode Beach – The city’s iconic seafront with views of the Arabian Sea.
- Sarovaram Biopark & Bypass – Scenic green stretch home to the city’s beloved biopark.
- Arayidathupalam – A bridge offering views of the backwaters.
- Francis Road & Kothi Bridge – Key city streets reflecting Kozhikode’s cultural heritage.
- Lions Park – A popular waterfront leisure spot.
- Gandhi Road & Butt Road – Classic roads showcasing old-world Kozhikode.

The service operates daily from 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM with five trips per day.

Things To Know Before You Book
Although the service has been ceremonially launched, regular operations are yet to begin.
Low-hanging tree branches at Mananchira Square, near the City Police Commissioner’s Office, Sarovaram Road, and Beach Road pose a risk to the 4.7-metre-tall bus.
KSRTC has requested the Kozhikode City Corporation to clear these before regular services commence.
Kozhikode now joins Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Alappuzha, and Munnar as Kerala cities with double-decker tourism bus services.
