The Agartala–Dhaka–Kolkata international bus service resumed operations today after a long suspension, bringing back an important road connection between Northeast India and Bangladesh.

The service once again connects Agartala with Dhaka and Kolkata, offering passengers a shorter and more convenient travel option.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha welcomed the move and described the bus service as a vital link for the state. He said India and Bangladesh share a strong and inseparable bond built on history, culture, and cooperation.

“India and Bangladesh share an unbreakable bond of friendship. We cannot move forward without working together,” the Chief Minister said while speaking about the resumption of the service.

Relief for Passengers

The bus service had been suspended for a long time, causing difficulties for passengers, traders, students, and families who depend on this route for travel and business.

With services restarting, people from Tripura can now travel to Kolkata through Dhaka using a much shorter international route. This saves time compared to the longer domestic journey through Assam and North Bengal.

The Chief Minister said stronger transport links will increase cooperation and improve ties between communities on both sides of the border.

For Tripura, the Agartala–Dhaka–Kolkata bus service is more than just a bus route. It is a strategic corridor that connects the Northeast with mainland India through Bangladesh.
