NexoBus has entered India’s intercity bus market with a technology-first approach, aiming to bring bus distribution, operational coordination and passenger services into a connected platform.

Founded by Raghuvar Tiwari, Arpit Wadibhasme and Ajay Sargar, the Thane-based company is building its business around partnerships with bus owners, supported by its own technology ecosystem and a planned Global Distribution System (GDS).

NexoBus aims to make intercity travel more reliable, comfortable and transparent while helping bus partners expand their market reach and improve operational efficiency. The company is targeting a network of more than 50 buses, with the ambition of scaling to over 100 within its first 12 months.

What NexoBus Is Offering

NexoBus Bus Fleet - Premium Tech-Driven

NexoBus is focusing on premium intercity travel, with sleeper and seater services planned based on route demand, passenger expectations, and vehicle availability. The company’s initial fleet plan includes a 30-bus operating model, with diesel and electric vehicles under consideration.

The tech-led company plans to focus on comfortable sleeper arrangements, safer journeys, clear boarding information, cleanliness, customer support and better communication about journey updates. It intends to establish minimum service standards across its network, while allowing amenities to vary according to vehicle type, route and service category.

Women travellers are another priority. The company plans to provide washroom facilities on its buses, make sanitary pads available when needed and introduce a dedicated SOS support service through its customer care team. Female support staff are also planned to assist passengers with their concerns.

These measures are intended to address issues such as access to personal hygiene facilities and timely assistance when passengers feel uncomfortable or unsafe. The focus on passenger support forms part of the company’s broader approach to making intercity journeys more comfortable and secure.

Developing Its Own Bus Technology Platform

A key part of NexoBus’s strategy is the development of its own Global Distribution System (GDS) and supporting technology ecosystem. The platform is intended to connect important functions across intercity bus distribution and operations.

Planned capabilities include inventory and seat management, schedule and fare management, booking distribution, passenger information, partner dashboards, revenue reporting and operational coordination. NexoBus also intends to integrate with relevant booking channels and service partners, helping bus partners manage inventory and reach more customers.

Over time, the platform is expected to provide better visibility into bookings, route performance, revenue and service quality. Development will take place in phases, with features introduced according to operational requirements and integration readiness.

Safety is a major part of the company’s planned operational framework. NexoBus is developing processes for driver and trip records, schedule monitoring, vehicle documentation checks, maintenance coordination and escalation of delays or incidents. GPS-based tracking and communication with bus partners are intended to improve visibility during journeys.

Driver fitness, adequate rest, compliance with applicable driving-hour requirements, vehicle roadworthiness and timely maintenance are identified as key priorities. NexoBus plans to combine technology with defined procedures and partner accountability as its platform and operating network develop. These capabilities will be implemented in phases, with the aim of strengthening operational oversight across partner-operated services.

Initial Routes and Expansion Plans

NexoBus is focusing its intercity network strategy on corridors connecting Maharashtra with destinations across western and central India. The routes identified in its expansion plans include Mumbai–Goa, Mumbai–Hyderabad, Mumbai–Indore, Mumbai–Ujjain, Pune–Nagpur, Pune–Goa and Pune–Bengaluru.

Route selection is guided by passenger demand, existing travel patterns, competition, seasonal movement, fare potential and bus availability. The company is also assessing each corridor’s potential to support reliable services while maintaining sustainable operating economics for its bus partners.

NexoBus plans to strengthen selected corridors before expanding into additional cities. Passenger volumes will depend on route selection, service reliability, competitive pricing, brand awareness and partnerships with bus owners.

“Our long-term ambition is to expand beyond West India into high-demand intercity corridors across central, southern and northern India. Local partnerships, demand-led route selection, technology adoption, operational efficiency and a consistent passenger experience will be central to building our pan-India network.”

Electric Mobility on the Roadmap

NexoBus Directors

Electric mobility forms part of NexoBus’s long-term strategy. The company is evaluating electric buses for routes where vehicle technology, charging infrastructure and operating economics can support dependable intercity services.

Its assessment will consider route distance, real-world vehicle range, charging availability at terminals and along routes, charging time, passenger capacity, vehicle cost, maintenance, financing and overall cost per kilometre. It will also examine whether charging can be integrated into journey schedules without compromising reliability.

Although the initial fleet planning has considered both diesel and electric vehicles, actual deployments will depend on route suitability, discussions with vehicle and charging partners, and commercial feasibility. NexoBus intends to evaluate electric buses corridor by corridor, balancing opportunities to reduce emissions with the need to maintain service reliability and affordability.

The Road Ahead for NexoBus

Established on May 24, 2026, NexoBus operates around the philosophy “Next Gen Experience”. Its first-year priorities are to build a strong operating foundation, expand its partner network and develop its technology platform.

Beyond increasing its fleet, NexoBus wants to build a sustainable intercity travel network in which growth benefits both passengers and bus partners. Its progress will depend on how effectively it develops its GDS, coordinates partner-operated services and delivers consistent passenger support as it enters additional markets.

The company’s ambition is to combine technology, bus-owner partnerships and passenger-focused services in a connected intercity travel platform. Integrating operational oversight and safety procedures into this model will be part of the challenge as the network expands.

Its next phase will be about translating that proposition into reliable operations and a consistent experience across its growing network.
