Ziel Launches EV-First Intercity Mobility Platform in South India

Ziel, a next-generation EV-first mobility platform, has officially announced its launch with a clear focus on transforming intercity travel through improved passenger comfort, operational reliability, and sustainable transport solutions.
The platform will initially operate on select high-demand routes in South India, with plans for phased expansion across longer and higher-density intercity corridors.
Designed around a customer-centric philosophy, Ziel combines electric mobility with enhanced seating layouts, smoother ride quality, reduced cabin noise, and thoughtfully planned onboard amenities. The objective is to offer a premium intercity travel experience while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
To support its operations, Ziel has partnered with Green Energy Mobility Solutions (GEMS) to operate the electric bus services on the platform. The initial fleet of buses will be leased through ElectriGo. Ziel and GEMS are part of the same group, enabling tight operational integration, faster execution, and scalable deployment across regions.

GEMS brings deep experience in electric mobility beyond passenger transport. The company is actively expanding its presence in electric cargo and industrial mobility, with electric loaders and excavators already deployed at mining sites.
These deployments have demonstrated the viability of electric equipment in high-utilisation, heavy-duty environments, strengthening GEMS’ capability to manage demanding EV operations at scale.
Commenting on the launch, Sunil Kumar Ravindran, Director, GEMS and Ziel Mobility, said that Ziel represents a critical operating layer within the group’s broader EV ecosystem.
He highlighted a clear roadmap of deploying 200 electric buses, 150 electric trucks, and 50 electric mining machines by FY 2026–27, supported by integrated charging infrastructure and lifecycle management.
“We are focusing on practical deployment rather than pilots. We have a defined roadmap to deploy 200 buses, 150 trucks, and 50 mining machines by FY 2026–27—supported by ElectriGo’s capabilities in technology-backed financing, maintenance, battery and lifecycle support.”

Balavignesh Subramani, Co-founder of Ziel Mobility, added that the strategy is to scale responsibly through strong ecosystem partnerships, combining asset deployment, energy availability, and technology-backed support to ensure consistent service quality.
The initial rollout will focus on strategic intercity routes with high passenger demand to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.
As demand grows, Ziel plans to expand into larger corridors and additional regions, reinforcing its role in India’s shift toward sustainable intercity transportation.
