Norway’s Vy Buss Orders Solaris Urbino 9 LE Electric Buses for Oslo Suburbs
Vy Buss, the leading bus company in Norway, has secured an order for three Solaris Urbino 9 LE electric buses, which will serve suburban routes in Slemmestad, an area near Oslo.
This order is significant as it marks the first introduction of Solaris’ 9-meter battery-electric buses in the Nordic market, with the first deliveries expected by July 2025.
Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Norge AS, highlighted the success of Solaris’ diesel Urbino 8.9 LE model in Norway, particularly for countryside travel and smaller towns.
He expressed optimism that the new electric version, the Solaris Urbino 9 LE, would achieve similar success in the Norwegian market, alongside Vy Buss.
The Solaris Urbino 9 LE is a fully zero-emission midi-class bus, known for its quiet operation and environmental friendliness.

Despite its compact size, the bus offers ample seating and is designed to be highly efficient on both urban and suburban routes. It is especially well-suited for navigating narrow streets and serves as an ideal link between city and suburban transportation networks.
Equipped with the “Scandinavian package,” these buses come with additional features tailored for Norway’s climate, including enhanced thermal insulation, snow chain drawers, and anti-elk lights, which help prevent wildlife collisions.
The Solaris Urbino 9 LE electric buses, which have been on the market since 2021, have already been adopted by several countries across Europe, including Poland, Germany, and Spain.
With this order, Norway becomes the latest country to join the growing list of Solaris customers, contributing to the more than 700 Solaris buses already in service across the nation.
