Potential Causes of Faulty Steering Wheel Movement

Many people in the comments of the viral video wanted to know the cause of the faulty steering in the TNSTC bus. While it is impossible to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem, the faulty steering wheel movement could be attributed to issues within the steering column and steering linkage.

Wear or damage to components within the steering column, such as the tilt mechanism or the universal joint, might lead to instability in steering control.

Additionally, faulty or worn steering linkage components, like tie rods or ball joints, can contribute to irregular movements of the steering wheel.

These mechanical issues can compromise the driver’s ability to maintain proper control of the vehicle, highlighting the critical importance of regular maintenance and inspections to ensure safe driving conditions.

Is it Risky to Drive With a Faulty Steering Wheel?

It is very risky to drive a vehicle with a faulty steering wheel.

The steering system is critical for maintaining control and maneuvering the bus safely on the road. A faulty steering wheel that moves unpredictably, such as tilting up and down or panning side to side, can lead to sudden loss of control.

This not only jeopardizes the safety of passengers on board but also poses a threat to pedestrians and other vehicles sharing the road. The potential consequences of an accident due to steering failure are severe, including injuries and fatalities.

Therefore, bus drivers must ensure that the steering system is in proper working condition before starting their journey. Regular checks and prompt repairs are essential to mitigate risks and uphold the highest standards of safety in public transportation.
