Germany’s eminent bus operator SWK Mobil Krefeld orders 10 Solaris Hydrogen Buses. These will be the Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses.
The initial 3 hydrogen buses will grace the streets of Krefeld, western Germany, by the close of 2024, followed by the remaining seven scheduled for delivery by May 2025.
Olivier Michard, Member of the Solaris Board responsible for Sales and Marketing, lauded SWK Mobil Krefeld’s forward-thinking decision, affirming Solaris’ position as a pioneer in advancing hydrogen-powered buses.
In a bid to optimize fleet management, SWK Mobil Krefeld will leverage eSConnect, Solaris’ proprietary tool providing comprehensive access to crucial data for assessing bus performance and planning operations.
Across Europe, interest in hydrogen-based solutions is steadily on the rise. Solaris currently boasts a portfolio of 450 ordered hydrogen buses for the coming years, with 140 already operational in various European cities.
Germany stands out as a particularly dynamic market in adopting hydrogen-powered buses. Solaris Urbino hydrogen buses are already in service in cities like Cologne, Wuppertal, Hofolding, Weimar, Frankfurt, Gross-Zimmern, and the Munich metropolitan area.
Further contracts are in progress, including those for Aschaffenburg, Güstrow, Gross-Gerau, Hamburg, and Duisburg. The future of emission-free public transport is bright.
About the Solaris Urbino 12 Hydrogen Buses to be Delivered to SWK Mobil Krefeld
The Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, tailored for Krefeld, will boast a central electric motor generating 160 kW.
These buses will draw their power from a hydrogen fuel cell, supplemented by Solaris High Power batteries for extra energy storage.
Inside, passengers can expect to experience a comfortable environment, thanks to an efficient and eco-friendly air conditioning system utilizing a CO2 heat pump.
