Municipal Transport Company in Krakow Orders 37 Solaris mild hybrid buses
Solaris signed a contract with Krakow’s public transport operator, MPK Kraków, to buy 37 Solaris mild hybrid buses. These low-emission buses will join Kraków’s fleet, which already includes nearly 600 Solaris buses. The new buses are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2025.
The Municipal Transport Company of Krakow has chosen Solaris to supply 37 low-emission buses through a tender. These modern, low-floor, and air-conditioned 12-meter buses will replace the oldest vehicles in MPK Kraków’s fleet.
Of the new buses, 25 will serve city routes, while 12 will be used for agglomeration routes. Deliveries are planned for the first half of 2025.
These mild hybrid buses are a great option in the low-emission category. They feature a system where an internal combustion engine is supported by an electric generator, which helps save fuel and reduce emissions. The mild hybrid system uses energy recovery technology, storing energy during braking and using it during acceleration. This setup makes the buses more environmentally friendly and efficient.
Solaris buses have been in Krakow for over twenty years, with nearly 600 in operation, many of which are zero-emission. The new mild hybrid buses will be the first of their kind in MPK Kraków’s Solaris fleet, though the operator tested similar models last summer.
