Nepal Bus Accident Death Toll Rises to 41: Maharashtra Govt. Confirms
Latest Update on the Nepal Bus Accident: The Maharashtra government has confirmed that the death toll in the Nepal bus accident has risen to 41 individuals. On August 23, a bus carrying approximately 43 passengers, mostly Indian tourists, skidded off the road and plunged into the Marsyangdi River at Ainapahara in Nepal’s Tanahun District.
On Friday, during a press briefing in Mumbai, Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan announced that the number of fatalities from the recent bus accident in Nepal’s Tanahun district has increased to 41.
He also added that the Maharashtra government is in constant touch with the Nepal administration and the Embassy of Delhi to coordinate the relief efforts.
“41 people have died in Nepal after it plunged into the river. We connected with the Embassy in Delhi also. 12 people have been shifted by the Nepal Army to the hospital,” Minister Mahajan was quoted saying by ANI.
Mahajan further stated that the precise number of casualties is still being determined, noting that there could be more causalities.
He mentioned that Maharashtra government officials are in constant communication with both the district administration and the military. “Rescue operations are ongoing,” he added.

The Nepal Bus Accident
The harrowing Nepal bus accident occurred on August 23 when a bus, carrying approximately 43 passengers, predominantly Indian pilgrims, skidded off the road and plunged 150 meters into the Marsyangdi River at Ainapahara in Tanahun.
The bus was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu at the time of the accident. As per reports, most of the passengers were from Jalgaon district in Maharashtra.
According to the police, the bus was traveling from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and the pilgrims were on a 10 day trip to Nepal.
Earlier on Friday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who is responsible for disaster relief and rehabilitation, discussed the repatriation of deceased Indian pilgrims with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior central officials. Amit Shah assured CM Shinde of the central government’s full support in the matter.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, a special Indian Air Force aircraft is scheduled to transport the bodies of the victims to Nashik on Saturday, where they will be returned to their families.

Union Minister Raksha Khadse arrived in Kathmandu
On August 24, the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse arrived in Kathmandu to address the ongoing rescue efforts for the victims of the Tanahun bus accident.
In the latest development, Minister Khadse, accompanied by Nepal’s Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, visited the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu to meet with the injured passengers.

Post-Mortem of Nepal Bus Accident Victims Underway
The post-mortem examination of the 41 Indian pilgrims who lost their lives in the recent bus accident in Nepal is currently being conducted at a hospital in Bagmati province, as reported on Saturday.
The bodies are undergoing examination at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan district, with arrangements being made to transport them to Maharashtra afterward.
According to MyRepublica, the bodies were moved from Anbu Khaireni Hospital to Chitwan for this procedure, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai.
PM Modi Announces Financial Support for Victims of Nepal Bus Accident
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared a compensation of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic bus accident.
Additionally, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that individuals injured in the incident will receive ₹50,000.
