Switch Mobility Launches Switch EiV12 and E1 Electric Buses

Switch Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland and a part of the Hinduja Group, has launched two new electric city buses in Delhi today. While the Switch EiV12 is launched for the Indian market, the Switch E1 has been specifically designed for Europe.

While both buses were initially introduced in June 2022, the EiV12 model marks an upgrade over its predecessor, which was built on an Ashok Leyland platform. This new version features a low-floor design and is tailored for urban bus services with a focus on zero tailpipe emissions.

The Switch EiV12 follows a chassis-based construction, with the batteries housed within the chassis itself, enhancing the overall design and efficiency.

The Switch E1, designed for the European market, adopts a monocoque construction to cater to the specific needs of commuters in that region.

Though both models share common design philosophies and EV architecture.  the E1 will be manufactured at Switch Mobility’s facility in the UK, and the EiV12 for India will be produced at the company’s Ennore facility in Tamil Nadu.

The new low-floor platform offers a floor height of 250 mm and is capable of covering a range of 200 to 400 kilometers on a single charge, making it well-suited for city commutes and urban transport networks.
