Hyderabad, Telangana: In a bid to enhance urban mobility and promote eco-friendly transportation, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has launched a new fleet of 22 non-AC, TSRTC Green Metro Express buses in Hyderabad.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated this innovative service on Tuesday, March 12, near the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue on Necklace Road.

The delivery of these buses was facilitated by Olectra Greentech, a prominent Indian electric bus manufacturer, operating on a GCC model.

As part of the government’s initiative to modernize public transit, TSRTC plans to deploy a total of 500 Green Metro Express buses by August this year.

To kickstart this endeavor, 22 TSRTC Green Metro Express buses have been launched, providing commuters with a convenient and sustainable mode of transportation.

However, unlike the 25 Green Metro Luxury electric buses delivered by Olectra Greentech Limited in September 2023, these are non-AC buses.

One of the noteworthy features of the TSRTC Metro Express bus service is its inclusivity, with free rides offered to women passengers.

This initiative aims to promote gender equality and encourage more women to utilize public transport for their daily commute.

Commuters can expect a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience aboard the TSRTC Green Metro Express buses, which boast modern amenities and spacious interiors.

Despite their eco-friendly design and premium features, these electric buses will maintain regular fares, ensuring affordability for all passengers.

The introduction of the TSRTC Green Metro Express bus service represents a significant milestone in the city’s journey towards sustainable urban mobility.

Hyderabad is taking proactive steps to reduce carbon emissions and alleviate traffic congestion by embracing electric buses and promoting public transit.

As Hyderabad continues to grow and evolve, initiatives like these will play a crucial role in shaping the future of urban mobility in the city.
