Karimnagar, September 29: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has officially launched 70 electric buses in Karimnagar, marking a significant step towards sustainable public transportation in the region.
This makes Karimnagar the second district in Telangana, after Hyderabad, to introduce luxury electric bus services.
Of the 70 TGSRTC electric buses, 35 have already arrived, with 33 buses commencing operations on Sunday.
The entire batch was delivered by JBM Auto, one of the top electric bus manufacturers in India.
New TGSRTC Electric Buses Route
Initially, 33 of these TGSRTC electric buses will operate between Karimnagar and Jubilee Bus Stand (JBS) in Hyderabad, utilizing a gross-cost contract (GCS) system. Additionally, two buses will be kept on standby for operational flexibility.
The new fleet will also be employed to improve connectivity to several areas, including Godavarikhani (9 buses), Manthani (4 buses), Kamareddy (6 buses), Jagtial (6 buses), and Sircilla (6 buses).
Charging Infrastructure
To facilitate the operation of these electric buses, 14 charging stations have been established at the Karimnagar-2 depot, supported by a new dedicated 11KV power line.
This initiative underscores TGSRTC’s commitment to promoting eco-friendly transportation options in Telangana.

TSRTC Rebrands itself to TGSRTC
On May 23, 2024, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) announced a significant change by officially rebranding itself to TGSRTC.
This move is in response to the state government’s directive, which designates “TG” as the new standard abbreviation for all public sector entities in Telangana.
One of the primary reasons for this name change is to prevent confusion with the Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation.
The rebranding reflects a commitment to aligning with the state’s evolving identity and enhances the corporation’s presence in the public transportation sector.
