360 Ultra-Modern Bus Stops in Srinagar to Enhance Urban Mobility

These bus stops will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Passenger Information Systems (PIS), which will provide real-time updates on the location of the smart city buses.
The initiative is a key component of the broader Smart City vision for Srinagar, aimed at improving public transportation and enhancing the commuter experience.
The project will complement the existing fleet of electric buses in Srinagar, which are already operating within the city and connecting Srinagar to surrounding districts.
These buses are part of the city’s push to integrate sustainable transportation solutions, and the addition of the 360 ultra-modern bus stops in Srinagar is expected to further streamline travel for residents and visitors alike.
Suhaib Naqshbandi, Operating Managing Director of Smart City E-Buses Srinagar, explained that the new bus stops will feature digital monitors displaying real-time bus locations and detailed route maps.
“This system will help passengers plan their journeys with ease, providing valuable information at their fingertips. The installation of these smart bus stops will significantly enhance the overall public transportation experience, offering convenience and efficiency for all users,” he said.
The locations of the bus stops have been carefully selected based on an extensive study of public transport patterns and passenger demand. Although the first bus stop’s exact location has not yet been finalized, priority will be given to the 16 existing smart bus routes.
The MA Road stop in Lal Chowk is widely regarded as the most likely location for the first ultra-modern bus stop in Srinagar.
Construction of the 360 ultra-modern bus stops in Srinagar is set to begin next month. While the total cost of the project is still to be determined, this ambitious initiative will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping the future of public transport in the city.
