VerdeMobility launches Urban Sphere Electric Buses in GIFT City

With the inauguration of the Ahmedabad Metro Phase-II, VerdeMobility has launched a new metro feeder electric bus service in partnership with Urban Sphere. The Urban Sphere electric buses in GIFT City began operating on September 16, with the service being offered free of charge by the GIFT Authorities.

Following the inauguration of the Ahmedabad Metro Phase-II connecting GIFT City with Gandhinagar, VerdeMobility has partnered with Urban Sphere to enhance transportation options for commuters traveling to GIFT City.

This new metro feeder electric bus service aims to provide a seamless and eco-friendly travel experience with Urban Sphere electric buses in GIFT City.

The service began on September 16, and passengers can enjoy complimentary rides on the new metro feeder electric bus, courtesy of the GIFT Authorities.

“We are delighted to provide our zero-emission transportation solutions to passengers in GIFT City. Initially, two buses will serve this route. One bus is already operational, and we will be delivering the second bus shortly,” Founder Karthik Athreya told Coach Builders India.

The Urban Sphere Electric Buses in GIFT City

The service features the Urban Sphere Ivoryline, a 9-meter electric bus that can accommodate up to 26 seated passengers and 15 standing.

It is equipped with a powerful 180-kW motor and a 193-kWh LFP battery pack. The Ivoryline is known for its fast charging capabilities; using a 250-kW charger, it can recharge up to 80% of its battery in just 45 minutes.

The buses would be deployed with Ksipra EV Chargers manufactured by VerdeMobility. On a full charge, the bus offers a range of up to 250 kilometers, ensuring reliable service for commuters.

The Ivoryline is built on the indigenously MULA (Modular Unified Ladder Architecture) skateboard chassis. Notably, seventy percent of the Urban Sphere Ivoryline has been developed and manufactured in India through collaborations with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Urban Sphere’s Growing Presence

Founded in 2022, Bangalore-based Urban Sphere has swiftly established itself as a major player in the electric bus sector. The company has also expanded its reach internationally, securing a deal to supply 500 Ivoryline electric buses to Espresso Limited in Kenya and signing an agreement to deliver 6-meter buses to the Philippines.

This new electric bus service in GIFT City highlights Urban Sphere’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and innovative transport solutions, reflecting the growing global shift towards electric vehicles.
