TNSTC Salem gets 19 New buses: Salem City Bus Stand to Airport Bus Launched

Under the Magalir Vidiyal travel scheme, Dr. R. Brindadevi, IAS, inaugurated two new bus services, including the crucial Salem City Bus Stand to Airport bus route. This new route, designed to enhance connectivity, travels from Salem City Bus Stand to Salem Kamalapuram Airport, passing through key areas in Salem. Additionally, 17 new BS6 buses were introduced to replace older suburban routes, further improving public transportation in the region.

Salem District Collector Dr. R. Brindadevi, IAS, inaugurated two new bus services as part of the Magalir Vidiyal travel scheme.

This included a new bus route connecting the Salem City Bus Stand to the Salem Kamalapuram Airport00. The ceremony took place at the Salem Bus Stand, with the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu’s directives guiding the initiative.

Salem City Bus Stand to Airport Bus Route

The new Salem City Bus Stand to Airport bus route is designed to enhance connectivity for a wide range of demographics.

It will operate from Salem City Bus Stand, passing through the following destinations before reaching the Salem Kamalapuram Airport.

  • Salem New Bus Stand
  • 5 Roads Junction
  • Mamangam
  • Omalur

This route aims to serve school and college students, as well as passengers traveling by air, providing a reliable and efficient travel option.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. R. Brindadevi highlighted that the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has recently replaced many old buses with modern BS6 buses.

“This initiative aligns with the Chief Minister’s vision of improving public transport and ensuring a better travel experience,” she added.

Salem Depot Gets 17 New BS6 Buses

In addition to the new route, 17 new BS6 buses have been introduced to replace older suburban route buses from Salem New Bus Stand.

These include 8 buses to Madhavaram (Chennai), 3 to Chidambaram, 3 to Bengaluru, and 3 to Madurai.

The inauguration was also graced by several dignitaries, including Salem West MLA, Mr. R. Arul, Mettur MLA, Mr. S. Sadasivam, and TNSTC Salem Division Managing Director, Mr. R. Ponmudi.

The District Collector reiterated the government’s dedication to improving the quality and efficiency of public transport throughout Tamil Nadu.
