Thane to Get 100 New Electric Buses Under PM E-Bus Service Scheme

Thane is set to enhance its public transportation system with the addition of 100 new electric buses in April this year.

These air-conditioned buses will be introduced under the PM E-Bus Sewa scheme, according to local MP Naresh Mhaske.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, Mhaske emphasized the growing need for sustainable transport solutions in Thane due to its rapidly increasing population.

He has also urged the central government to allocate additional electric buses to the city to meet the rising commuter demand.

The allocation of 100 buses to Thane Municipal Corporation under the “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” scheme is a welcome development. These air-conditioned buses will be a boon to our citizens, especially considering the growing population of the city. We look forward to the successful implementation of this project by April.

Additionally, Mhaske has appealed for an increase in the subsidy provided under the scheme, requesting it to be raised from ₹24 per kilometer to ₹29 per kilometer.

He also suggested reducing the daily mandatory running distance from 200 km to 160 km, allowing greater flexibility in operations.
