Tata Motors Launches E-buses For Workforce Transportation in Pantnagar
Tata Motors has launched a fleet of electric buses for workforce transportation at its Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand.

In a significant move towards carbon neutrality, Tata Motors has introduced a fleet of Tata Ultra 9m electric buses to provide clean and green transport for over 5,000 employees at its Pantnagar facility. This initiative is expected to save approximately 1,100 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
The e-buses will be charged using electricity generated from a 16MW solar energy plant, ensuring the entire operation is environmentally friendly. This deployment is part of Tata Motors’ broader commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.
TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited (TSCMSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, will facilitate this workforce commute with a modern fleet of Tata Ultra 9m electric buses.

The Tata Ultra EV 9m buses are equipped with advanced features, including regenerative braking systems and Intelligent Transport Systems, enhancing efficiency and safety.
This deployment adds to Tata Motors’ existing fleet of over 3,100 electric buses operating across 10 cities in India, collectively covering more than 24 crore kilometers with an uptime exceeding 95%.Â
Vishal Badshah, Vice President and Head – Operations, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, stated, “The introduction of electric buses for workforce commuting marks a significant step forward towards fulfilling Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles’ aspiration of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2045.”Â
This initiative underscores Tata Motors’ dedication to integrating sustainability across its operations, from sourcing to development, engineering, and manufacturing.
The Pantnagar plant, already a certified Zero Waste to Landfill facility and recipient of water-positive certification by CII-GBC, serves as an ideal launchpad for this milestone in Tata Motors’ sustainability journey.Â
