GreenCell Mobility (GCM) has announced the deployment of 75 electric buses in Puducherry, supporting the Union Territory’s efforts to transition towards zero-emission public transportation.

As part of the Puducherry electric bus project, GreenCell Mobility has partnered with EKA Mobility to deliver the air-conditioned electric city buses, comprising 25 (9-metre) and 50 (12-metre) buses.

The announcement was made during a government-led event in Puducherry on March 2, highlighting the region’s growing focus on sustainable public transportation and electrification of city bus operations.

75 Electric City Buses Planned for Deployment

Under the project, GreenCell Mobility will deploy a fleet of 75 air-conditioned electric city buses, consisting of:

  • 25 buses (9-metre category)
  • 50 buses (12-metre category)

The buses are designed to operate across both standard urban routes and high-demand trunk corridors, improving service reliability and strengthening last-mile connectivity across Puducherry.
