Phiringia Bus Accident: How Overspeeding Claimed 2 Lives
The Phiringia bus accident in Odisha’s Kandhmal district claimed two lives and left nine injured. According to local police, the primary cause of the accident was overspeeding.
An overspeeding private sleeper bus lost control and overturned near Kaliasahi village in the Kandhmal district of Odisha. The unfortunate incident resulted in two fatalities and left nine passengers injured.
The bus, en route Phulbani in Kandhamal district from Muniguda in Rayagada district, had 50 passengers onboard.
The bus driver lost control while taking a sharp turn at high speed near Kaliasahi village, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Chittaranjan Mahanta, Sub-Divisional Magistrate said, “The accident happened at around 7 PM and two individuals lost their lives. Nine others have been injured. There were around 50 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. The Phiringia bus accident has been caused because of overspeeding.”
The deceased have been identified as Bijaya Patnaik, the bus conductor, and Arjun Kanhar, a 17-year-old college student.
