Bus Driver Watching Mobile While Driving Suspended by MSRTC
Latest MSRTC News: Two MSRTC bus drivers watching mobile while driving have been suspended on Sunday. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik emphasized MSRTC’s strict safety policy against reckless driving.

A Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus driver was caught watching a mobile while driving an e-Shivneri bus on the Pune-Mumbai route.
The reckless act, which endangered passengers’ lives, led to the immediate suspension of the driver following an inquiry by MSRTC. The transport body also penalized the private operator responsible for the service.
Driver Caught Watching Cricket on Mobile While Driving
According to reports, Namdev Yadav, the MSRTC bus driver, was watching a cricket match on his mobile while driving. A concerned passenger recorded the incident and reported it to the authorities. Taking swift action, MSRTC suspended the driver and imposed a ₹5,000 penalty on the private company managing the e-bus fleet.
MSRTC Managing Director Shekhar Channe confirmed that the bus driver was found guilty of violating safety protocols. “Strict action is necessary to ensure the safety of passengers,” he said.

Another Complaint Highlights MSRTC Bus Driver Negligence
In a separate incident, Pune commuter Nitin Godbole shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter), showing another Shivneri bus driver watching mobile while driving on the Dadar-Swargate route. Tagging the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Godbole demanded immediate action.
The CMO promptly responded, stating:
“The driver was immediately suspended. An FIR is in process, and further action is underway.”
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik also addressed the issue, saying,
“MSRTC’s e-Shivneri service is a premium and accident-free route. Reckless driving will not be tolerated. We are committed to ensuring passenger safety.”
