Kolhapur Free Shuttle Bus Service Launched to Ease Airport Commute

The Kolhapur Free Shuttle Bus Service was officially launched on Tuesday, providing a cost-free travel option between Kolhapur airport and Kolhapur city. Initiated and funded by Kolhapur MP Shahu Chhatrapati, the service addresses long-standing complaints from air travellers regarding high private transport fares.
The service was inaugurated by airport officials, including Director Anil Shinde, who acknowledged the pressing need for this facility. Previously, passengers had to spend significant amounts—up to ₹600—to reach city landmarks from the airport.

Kolhapur airport currently offers direct flight services to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Tirupati, and Mumbai. The shuttle service launch also coincided with the first anniversary of the airport’s new terminal building.
“This initiative meets an immediate need while the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation works on its own transport plans,” said Airport Director Anil Shinde.
Travellers are encouraged to use this free and convenient option for airport transfers until additional public transport services are introduced.
