India’s premium seater bus market has long lacked a true middle ground. Global OEMs offer strong engineering and safety at prices beyond most operators, while locally built “luxury” buses often prioritise appearance over compliance and engineering depth.
Guru Ram Dass Bus Body Builders’ Mirabelle is designed to address this gap. Developed as a ground-up, super-premium seater coach, it focuses on original design, integrated safety systems, and passenger experience rather than incremental upgrades.
Built over nearly 18 months, Mirabelle reflects GRD’s view that tightening safety norms and rising passenger expectations, especially in the tourist and premium intercity segment,s are creating demand for a globally aligned, Indian-built luxury coach.
In this interview, Mayank Kukreja, CEO, Guru Ram Dass Bus Body Builders, explains the thinking behind Mirabelle and how it fits into the company’s long-term strategy.

Mirabelle is positioned as a super-premium coach. What was missing in the Indian bus market that pushed you to build this bus?
India’s luxury coach market lacked a true middle ground. Global OEMs offered strong engineering and safety at prices most operators could not afford, while locally built “luxury” buses often compromised on safety, engineering quality, and compliance.
Operators were left choosing between a ₹50–60 lakh product with limitations or spending close to ₹2 crore on a global brand. Mirabelle was developed to bridge this gap by offering global-level design, safety, and finish in an Indian-built coach.
Engineered over nearly 18 months, Mirabelle delivers super-premium standards at a price point suited to the foreign tourist and premium intercity segments.

What’s the first thing a passenger notices when they step on board Mirabelle? How does it feel different from other buses?
The experience begins at the entrance. The doorway is wide, spacious, and designed for easy access, whether for elderly passengers or children.
A pneumatically supported first step ensures smooth boarding, while well-positioned handrails add confidence and safety. A crash-safe front partition protects without disrupting the visual openness.
Inside, the difference is immediately noticeable. The cabin feels open and refined, with a strong sense of space and light. Ergonomically designed seats from Ster India are focused on comfort for long journeys, not just appearance.
From the first step onboard, Mirabelle doesn’t just look premium, but it delivers a premium experience.

If you had to highlight Mirabelle’s top features, what stands out most in terms of design and technology?
Design was approached from a clean slate. Unlike most luxury buses in the market that borrow from existing models, Mirabelle is completely original and engineered from scratch.
The exterior follows an aviation-inspired, aerodynamic form, while the interior carries the same theme with precision-engineered trims and an automotive-grade finish.
Lighting is fully diffused, and the LumiElite Signature Ambience system allows controlled cabin lighting changes. The Imperior Surround Sound system delivers a surround audio experience through speakers integrated across the cabin.
The cockpit features mechanical toggle switches, a flat aircraft-style floor, and frameless glass-to-glass doors.
Safety and technology are fully integrated, including AIS-153 compliant architecture, FDSS and FAPS fire protection, Driver Status Monitoring, Blind Spot Detection, 3-point and 2-point seatbelts, and panoramic emergency escape hatches.
Together, these elements position Mirabelle as a purpose-built super-premium coach rather than a cosmetically upgraded seater.

Finally, how does Mirabelle fit into Guru Ram Dass’s long-term vision as safety norms tighten and passenger expectations continue to evolve?
Mirabelle marks the starting point of Guru Ram Dass Bus Body Builders’ long-term product strategy. The company is now positioned to deliver higher standards of safety, comfort, and design across multiple segments, not just the super-premium category.
A key focus is building a distinct design language that will carry across all future GRD models, making them instantly recognisable even without branding, similar to established global automotive marques.
Over the coming years, GRD plans to expand its portfolio across seaters, sleepers, and mini and midi coaches, all aligned to this design philosophy.
To support this direction, the company is investing in advanced manufacturing equipment and production processes aimed at meeting stricter safety norms and improving overall build quality.
With expansion plans underway, GRD intends to raise benchmarks across India’s premium bus market rather than operate in a single niche.
