CEAT Strengthens Women-Centric And Inclusive Workplace Policies

CEAT Limited has announced a series of workplace initiatives aimed at supporting women employees through wellness benefits, flexible work arrangements, leadership development programmes, and caregiving support.
The company has also introduced operational changes and automation in manufacturing units to increase women’s participation in shopfloor roles and create a more inclusive work environment.
Flexible Work And Work-Life Balance
CEAT states that work-life balance is an important factor in improving employee well-being and productivity.
To support this, the company allows employees to work remotely from home or another location with the approval of their manager.
The policy is designed to provide flexibility for employees to manage both professional and personal responsibilities while maintaining productivity and engagement.
Wellness Leave And Health Support
The company has introduced a Wellness Leave policy for women employees.
Under this initiative, women can take two days of work-from-home or leave every month during menstruation without the need to provide justification.
Shopfloor employees are also provided additional support through the option to change shifts or rest at on-site Occupational Health Centres when required.
Leadership Development And Career Growth
CEAT has launched several programmes focused on professional development and leadership growth for women employees.
Initiatives such as Womentoring, the Women Accelerator Program, and STARS aim to build leadership capabilities as well as digital and functional skills.
The company also runs EmpowHer, an employee resource group designed to promote inclusion and encourage internal dialogue around workplace diversity and gender equality.

Maternity And Caregiving Benefits
CEAT provides 26 weeks of paid maternity leave along with hospitalisation coverage for employees during childbirth.
Offices and manufacturing plants include crèches and lactation rooms to support mothers returning to work.
Returning mothers are allowed flexible working hours and a four-hour workday until their child reaches one year of age.
Women employees working on shopfloors are also assigned dedicated morning shifts during the first year after childbirth.
The company has additionally introduced a gender-neutral Child Caregiver Travel and Stay Policy to ensure employees can manage caregiving responsibilities without compromising their professional commitments.
Increasing Women’s Participation In Manufacturing
Beyond corporate policies, CEAT has introduced automation and ergonomic improvements to make manufacturing roles more accessible to women.
The company has installed automated tyre-building machines, lift-assist devices, ergonomic fixtures, and conveyor-based tyre movement systems to reduce physically demanding tasks.
These changes have helped increase women’s participation in manufacturing operations at the company’s facility in Chennai, where women currently represent 20% of the workforce.
At the plant in Nagpur, CEAT introduced night shifts for women employees, making it the first manufacturing facility in Maharashtra to implement such a move.
The facility now has 28% women representation on the shopfloor.
Infrastructure And Safety Measures
To support women employees working in manufacturing roles, CEAT has invested in additional workplace infrastructure and safety measures.
These include secure transportation facilities, women security personnel, and improved ergonomic workplace design.
The company states that these initiatives aim to create a safe and accessible work environment that enables women to participate in roles traditionally considered unconventional.
Focus On Inclusive Workplace Culture
Through these policies and operational improvements, CEAT aims to build a workplace where women are supported at different stages of their careers.
The initiatives focus on improving access to leadership opportunities, strengthening caregiving support, and enabling greater participation of women across both corporate and manufacturing roles.
