Former Indian captain and coach, Anil Kumble, made headlines on Monday as he chose to travel by a BMCT bus amidst the Bengaluru Bandh today, a day-long protest by private transporters in Bengaluru to push for various demands.

Mr. Kumble’s journey took him from the airport to his residence via the BMCT bus. Sharing his experience on X (formerly Twitter), he posted a photo from inside the bus with the caption, “BMTC trip back home today from the airport.”

The Bengaluru bandh was organized by the Federation of the Karnataka State Private Transport Associations to voice their concerns.

This resulted in the suspension of private vehicles, including autos, taxis, maxi cabs, goods vehicles, and corporate buses.

Transport minister R Ramalinga Reddy extended an assurance to the private transport unions, promising to address most of their grievances. Consequently, the unions decided to call off the Bengaluru Bandh.

Out of the 30 demands presented, the minister acceded to 27 of them, as confirmed by S Nataraj Sharma, President of the Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Associations.

Considering the Bengaluru Bandh today, the Bengaluru Airport Authority advised passengers to make suitable arrangements to ensure timely arrivals at the airport during this period of disruption.
