Ashok Leyland Will Deliver 543 Buses to TNSTC

Ashok Leyland will deliver 543 buses to TNSTC. This includes 509 diesel-powered chassis and 34 fully built diesel buses.

Ashok Leyland has announced the acquisition of an order with a total value of around ₹184 crore from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC).

Under this new order, Ashok Leyland will deliver 543 buses to TNSTC. It includes both diesel chassis and fully built buses. 

As part of the deal, Ashok Leyland will supply 547 vehicles in total. Out of these, 509 of them will be diesel-powered chassis, while the remaining 34 will be fully built diesel buses. The buses are scheduled to be delivered by December 2025. 

These new Bharat Stage VI (BSVI) buses are expected to replace older ones and lower the overall emissions of buses across Tamil Nadu.

This will also help improve the travel experience for passengers, as this order is part of the ongoing efforts to improve public transport in Tamil Nadu.

Ashok Leyland is the flagship company of the Hinduja Group and is known for its strong presence in the bus segment. It has a long-standing relationship with several state transport undertakings, including TNSTC. 

With more than 18,000 Ashok Leyland buses operated by TNSTC, which accounts for 90% of its fleet, this order has once again shown the company’s leadership in the commercial vehicle space.

This fresh order will also help Ashok Leyland strengthen its market position and significantly modernise Tamil Nadu’s public transport system.
