Alexander Dennis delivers Enviro100EV Electric Buses to Shuttle Buses, making it the first independent operator in Scotland to adopt this next-generation electric vehicle.
Shuttle Buses, Scotland’s sole employee-owned bus company, has become the first independent operator to receive the Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV, marking a significant milestone in the adoption of next-generation electric buses.
This vehicle, part of the Alexander Dennis electric bus range, was funded in part by the Scottish Government through the Scottish Zero Emission Bus challenge fund (ScotZEB 1).
Operating from Kilwinning in Ayrshire, Shuttle Buses runs a fleet of 55 buses and coaches, with a dedicated team of 75 employees.
The compact 8.5-meter-long, 2.35-meter-wide Enviro100EV is designed to navigate tight streets and narrow lanes, making it ideal for areas that larger buses can’t reach. Despite its smaller size, it provides the same high-quality engineering, comfortable work environment, and passenger experience that you’d expect from a larger vehicle.
The Enviro100EV in Shuttle Buses’ specification offers 25 passenger seats, plus a wheelchair space that’s easily accessible through the main door.
It boasts outstanding energy efficiency, with a certified consumption of just 0.54kWh/km on the UK Bus Cycle and an impressive 97% grid-to-wheel energy efficiency. Powered by 354kWh batteries, it offers class-leading range on a single charge in the “big small bus” category.
The vehicle’s performance data is tracked through AD Connect telematics, with Shuttle Buses having access to it via their AD24 account for easy monitoring and reporting.
