Commercial Vehicle Battery-Swapping to Take Less Than 3 Minutes
The battery-swapping process, which takes less than three minutes, is expected to decrease operational costs by up to 20% while increasing vehicle uptime. Furthermore, the compact and lightweight design of the batteries facilitates higher payload capacities, enhancing the overall efficiency of commercial vehicles.
Ashok Agarwal, CEO of Heavy Electric Vehicles at SUN Mobility, highlighted the impact of this development: “SUN Mobility has revitalized HEVs by addressing key challenges faced by bus operators, such as the high upfront cost of ownership, inadequate financing options, and prolonged downtime due to lengthy charging periods. Our solution offers a significant leap forward in making electric vehicles more accessible and practical.”
The modular battery-swapping technology will be compatible with all commercial vehicles produced by Veera Vahana, supporting fleet owners in their transition to electric vehicles.
By lowering the upfront costs and providing flexible financing solutions, SUN Mobility is poised to make electric buses a more viable option compared to traditional ICE models, accelerating the adoption of cleaner transportation solutions.
SUN Mobility’s latest innovation marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of commercial vehicle battery-swapping technology, aligning with the broader goals of sustainability and efficiency in the transport sector.
