ROUTE DETAILS: TAMIL NADU ANNOUNCES 10,940 BUSES FOR DEEPAVALI
As reported by the news minute, the buses will be operational on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from different bus-stands within and on the outskirts of the city — Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), Madhavaram new bus-stand, Arignar Anna bus-stand in Tambaram-Sanatorium, KK Nagar MTC stand, Tambaram railway station bus-stand and Poonamallee bus-stand.
It also has to be noted that buses travelling to Andhra Pradesh — TNSTC and the APSRTC services — via Red Hills will be ply from the Madhavaram new bus-stand. Buses that operate via the East Coast Road (ECR) to Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram will start their journey from the KK Nagar MTC stand. Buses to Kumbakonam, Thanjavur via Tindivanam will be operated from the Arignar Anna bus-stand at Tambaram-Sanatorium.
Buses bound to Kancheepuram, Arcot, Arani, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Hosur, Chittoor and Tirupati via Tiruttani will leave from Poonamallee bus-stand. Tambaram railway station bus-stand will operate buses to Tiruvannamalai via Tindivanam, Panruti, Neyveli, Chidambaram, buses scheduled to Puducherry, Chidambaram and Cuddalore via Tindivanam etc.
The department also stated that buses from CMBT scheduled to other parts of the state via the GST road will ply through Maduravoyal, Poonamallee, Nazarathpet, Outer Ring Road and Vandalur to reach the temporary bus-stand in Urapakkam, instead of plying through Tambaram-Perungalathur stretch.
On account of Deepavali, the state government has also announced a local holiday on October 28, 2019, Monday for all the government offices and educational institutions in the state. To compensate for the holiday, November 11, 2019 (second Saturday) will be a working day, as per the Government Order issued on Monday.
